True coastal resilience is achieved by transforming degraded and overexploited coastal areas into vibrant and thriving ecosystems. It depends on the ability of ecosystems and communities to adapt and recover from environmental stresses while sustaining fish populations and livelihoods.
Communities rely on natural resources such as fisheries catches, coral reefs, seagrass beds, and mangrove forests to maintain and sustain their way of life.
Over exploitation and poorly targeted fishing accelerates the degradation and depletion of fish stocks. Overfishing not only depletes the stocks but often damages critical habitats in the coastal zone including seagrass, intertidal ecosystems and mangroves stripping them of life and the ability to sustain the wider fishery. Coastal habitats degrade, leaving barren seabeds often being covered in sediment. To address this challenge, The Royal Government of Cambodia with the support of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Agence Française de Développement (AFD) created the Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries Project (SCMF) in 2023 – 2029.
The Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries (SCMF) project regenerates ecosystems, improves fisheries management and surveillance, and develops community businesses towards more sustainable fisheries. It develops sustainable resilient coastal and marine fisheries resources, resulting in recovered fish stocks and better coastal economy.
How can we develop coastal resilience for nature and people? Telling the holistic approach and story of coastal resilience.
We've gathered a collection of leading global experts and leaders to share key initiatives to shape our hope in building coastal resilience.

Team
Lexicon of Impacts is based on the Ecological Benefits Framework (EBF). This new paradigm provides a foundational architecture to radically transform global carbon, biodiversity, and ecological benefits markets. Coordinating financial institutions, UN agencies, NGOs, companies, and catalytic capital will bring attention to—and help create—a shared pathway for accelerated solutions, providing economic support for the people and projects that need it most.
